The Ministry of Health in New Zealand has stated that there are no plans to change the classification of MDMA and psilocybin, despite the move in Australia. Registered psychologist Dr. Rita Csako has welcomed the move to legalize the medicines in Australia, but noted that New Zealand is yet to follow suit. 

The Australian medical regulator has approved the prescription of MDMA and psilocybin by authorized psychiatrists for the treatment of certain mental health conditions.

This move has been welcomed by clinicians and researchers in New Zealand, however, the Ministry of Health has stated that there are no plans to change the classification of these drugs in New Zealand.
